Hi! I’m Katie Ferrill, a birth doula serving families in Far North Dallas and the surrounding area. My passion for birth work began during my pregnancy with my daughter, Riley. Early on, my doctor mentioned that my scoliosis might make receiving an epidural challenging, and it completely threw me off. I had always planned to have one, so suddenly I found myself wondering how I could make it through labor without it.
A quick Google search pointed me toward taking a childbirth class and hiring a doula—two things I had never considered before. But those decisions ended up transforming my entire birth experience. With my doula’s support, I felt empowered, grounded, and capable. My birth became a faith-filled, meaningful moment for both me and my husband, and it truly changed the way I viewed pregnancy and childbirth.
After Riley was born, that experience stayed with me. I found myself constantly wanting to learn more about birth, supportive care, and how families can feel confident and informed during such a life-changing event. Eventually, I followed that passion and completed my doula training.
Today, I love walking alongside families as they prepare to welcome their baby. My approach is calm, supportive, and centered on you. I listen closely to your hopes, help you understand your options, and make sure you never feel alone or unheard. Whether you’re dreaming of an unmedicated birth, planning for an epidural, or still figuring it out, my goal is to help you feel confident and cared for every step of the way.
Outside of birth work, I live in Far North Dallas with my husband, our daughter, and our dog, Shakespeare. We’re a sports-loving family—my husband and I actually met playing water polo, and we still try to join rec league tournaments whenever we can.
I would be honored to support your family and help make your birth experience empowering, peaceful, and uniquely your own.
My favorite verse when times are hard is: "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
FUN FACT: I played professional water polo in Spain after college!

DONA Certified Birth Doula Training
What was your biggest take away from doula training?
The biggest thing I took away from my doula training is the importance of supporting families without any personal agenda or bias. Every mom has their own vision of what a meaningful and empowered birth looks like, and I want to help you get as close as possible to your ideal experience. No one knows or wants what’s best for their baby better than mom!
What is the number one thing you use when supporting a family?
I recommend the Evidence Based Birth Podcast. It’s my go-to resource for clients because it’s straightforward and unbiased. They do an excellent job breaking down research into practical information that parents can use to make decisions. Why should a client hire you?
Why should a client hire you?
I hope a client chooses to work with me because they feel a connection and trust that I’m someone they’d want by their side in the birth space. Birth is such a vulnerable and personal experience, so I encourage clients to choose a doula they relate to and feel completely comfortable with.
