After the birth of my first child, I realized I did not get the birth that I imagined having. During my second pregnancy, I made sure to assemble the right team of people (including our own Lindsay, for my birth doula) and I was able to have the spectacular birth that I wished for. That subsequently lit a fire within me, to try to help every woman achieve exactly what they imagine for the birth of their baby. After 8 years of providing physical therapy services, I felt I was being pulled towards birth work.

While struggling to get pregnant with both of our children, I never felt more alone than I did during those times. I would love to help any woman in her fertility, pregnancy, postpartum journey, to feel more nurtured and understood during this incredible time in her life.

My background as a physical therapist assistant, really helps me see the pregnant body as the amazing  transformation that it is.

I enjoying being outside (camping, gardening, fishing) with my family.  I love cooking, reading, all things Gilmore Girls, and I drink too much coffee.

Top Recommended Resources:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:6-7

What was your biggest take away from doula training?

Spinning Babies. The exercises are great for opening the pelvis and helping get baby into the optimal position for birth.

What is a birth or postpartum resource you highly recommend? Number one birth or postpartum podcast recommendation for a parent?

The Positive Birth Company; is a great hypnobirthing resource to help parents get an idea of what they desire for their birth and how best to achieve it.

What is the number one thing you use when supporting a family?

My intuition and listening skills. I feel that when new parents can sense my confidence, it in turn gives them more confidence to trust themselves. I try not to impart wisdom unless it is asked for and then lead with compassion.

Why should a client hire you?

I was definitely called to become a doula and I think that is evident in my compassion for my clients. I believe that the key to every aspect of this life is flexibility and I pride myself on being able to adapt to each circumstance in order to calm my clients down and enjoy this profound journey.

One thing you wish you knew when you were pregnant or postpartum?

I wish someone had told me to never compare; whether that be during pregnancy, postpartum, or even parenting. It is far too easy nowadays to go by everything you see online and everyone else's experience and think that you are doing something wrong at every turn. Trust your instincts and ask for help/advice when needed.

Number one birth or postpartum book recommendation for a parent, and why?

Postpartum book: "Good Moms Have Scary Thoughts"; I thought something was wrong with me mentally when I was having intrusive thoughts after the birth of my first child. I did not know that it was the cocktail of hormones and sleep deprivation that come with the fourth trimester.
