Hey you guys!! My name is Anna Wardlaw!
I became certified birth doula when I was 17 years old, back in 2021. Quite honestly, I walked into the doula training hardly knowing what exactly a doula was—I just knew that I wanted to help pregnant women, and apparently, becoming a “doula” was how to do that. Little did I know at the time just how much that decision would shape my life!
I’ve felt deeply called to birth work from a young age. I’m one of ten children, so pregnancy and birth were never new to me. Watching my sweet mama go through pregnancy so many times grew my love for birth in such a natural, personal way.
God has placed in my heart a strong desire to love on women through pregnancy and birth. I’ve had the incredible privilege of serving women in so many different capacities! While I’m currently in school to become a midwife, I will always hold a deep love for doula work—it’s truly one of my greatest honors in life.
To know a little more about me: first and foremost, I’m a follower of Jesus. I’m also on staff at my church, where I help with admin work and co-lead the middle and high school ministry with my husband. I love to read and write, paint when I have the time, and explore new coffee shops around DFW!

What was your biggest takeaway from doula training?
I would confidently say the biggest takeaway from my doula training is this: being with women is the most valuable tool we, as doulas, have. I didn’t fully understand that until I became a doula and began supporting women hands-on in the birth space. Learning all the positions, breathing techniques, and birth affirmations is certainly a huge part—but if I couldn’t simply be with them and trust the deep intuition of 9the birthing woman, I’d be missing the heart of it all.
Why should a client hire you?
A client should hire me because I truly believe in BIRTH! I believe God created women for this very purpose. As both a doula and a student midwife, I have had the great honor of supporting families through their birth experiences in many different capacities. I’ve had the privilege of being part of home births, birthing centers, hospital births, VBACs, planned and unplanned cesareans, water births, and more.
Through these diverse experiences, I’ve come to deeply trust the birth process and the way it unfolds. My goal isn’t to impose a system on my clients but to get to know you personally, so I can best support you not only during birth but throughout your pregnancy and postpartum journey!! I truly believe God has called me to this labor of love (no pun intended—haha!), It would be my greatest honor to walk alongside you in this transformative time!!!
What is the number one thing you use when supporting a family?
The most valuable tools I use when supporting families during birth are my heart and my hands. I truly believe that birth support is deeply intuitive, emotional, and personal. I do my best to rely on the gifts God has given me to walk alongside families in such a sacred space!
Number one birth and postpartum book recommendation?
My top two recommendations would be Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin and Real Food for Pregnancy by Lily Nichols. I believe both are must-reads to gain a deeper understanding of the birthing process and the powerful role nutrition plays in the health of the mama and the development of the sweet baby!
Share your best vacation!
My best vacation was hands down our honeymoon after getting married. My husband Aaron and I discovered Rosemary Beach, Florida, through an Instagram reel, and it turned out to be the most lovely spot. We rode bikes, watched sunrises, took many walks, and soaked up the Florida sun! I highly recommend!!
Number one birth or postpartum podcast recommendation for a parent, and why?
I have too many favorites! But The Evidence-Based Birth Podcast and The Birthing Instincts Podcast are both amazing resources for parents—or anyone interested in learning more about physiological birth.
